hmm...

Jeremiah Chan Yong Wei AKA Wei Wei AKA Maia

hmm... what to write sia.. hmm.. as always.. i dont know how to express myself... anyway here goes.. hmm... i never knew that writing a blog can be this straining when you dont know what to write... Maybe I'll share some expriences i encountered when i went mountain climbing.. haha... maybe a bit boring pls bear with it...

On the first day we reached the foot of the mountain, we were all ethu about the climb even though we were carrying our equipment, food and etc on our back and its not light lo... one bag can easily weight up to 30 - 40 kg lo.. then we began our ascent... the start of a short but nvr ending climb...
First to come was a flight of steps that led us to the waterfall checkpoint but even before we reach the check point one of the guys sprained his leg so some of us had to take his load as well.. but that didnt affect our progress cause he took it bravely and continued the trek.. what followed was the real thing.. Mountain Trail.. it wasn't easy for any of us with our additional loads and lam (the injured guy), but throughout the climb there was lots of encouragement for one another so some how we reached our campsite in 2 hours times.. although it was just 2 hours but it was like eternal for us when we were struggling to just take one more step.. the rest of the day was eat, play, rest and campfire.

The First check point
Second day began with breakfast besides a cloudy sunrise, too bad we couldn't see the egg yolk come out the mountain valley.. we had a heavy breakfast cause it was going to be a long climb to the peak.. hmm.. we had milo, bread, baked beans, mash potato and scramble eggs with mushroom.. we needed to start early cause he was worried that we may not make it back before dark if we started late.. so we left shortly after breakfast.. today we travelled light so it was something to be happy about but it was still a tough trail to walk cause it was getting steeper and steeper.. we took several breaks before reaching the peak, one of them was at a cave, its was said to have some g***ts roaming in this cave but it didn't stop us from playing tarzan... and when we were reaching the peak the air was so good that you can feel the air going down your airpipe into your lungs... i was told that the peak was only 100m from becoming a snow peak.. wat a pity... so there we were at the peak in 4 hours time quite a remarkable feat considering we had a walking wounded.. so we had lunch at the peak, it was just biscuits, milo and mash potatoes, not so fantastic but at least it will keep us going till we reach our campsite..
The return journey was more dangerous, out of the 9 people 4 were injured in one way or another including myself.. most of us sprain our ankle cause its seems that while we were at the peak there was a small drizzle beneath us, resulting in slippery grounds.. but nonetheless we made it back in one piece.. after we've reach it was our favourite time.. dinner time.. then was campfire and sleep.. it was a rainy nite.. and WTH our tent was leaking.. ARGH.. -__-! it was like wetting in your sleep only its the whole body this time.. then we had to use a plastic bag to empty the water efrom our tent but there was something amazing during this ordeal one of the guys was sleeping throughout the thing... AMAZING!!! but still heng ah it happen on the last nite.. tomolo we're packing to go back liao if not without the sleep any climb will be fatal man.. but dont think there will be sunrise cause usually there would be a fog if it rains..
The Peak
3rd and final day on the mountain.. something amazing happened the sky was crispy clear.. we saw the sun rise from the valley and into the blue blue sky.. and we knew that we are going to have a great day ahead.. after breakfast we were going to explore all the waterfalls in the area but after first waterfall it started drizzling so we had to abandon the plan and head back down :( so much for the good start... after lunch we washed up the equipments packed up and left the campsite.. this time we were a lot more careful not to get further injuries so we manage to reach to foot peacefully...

The Yolk
haha... hope i didnt bore all of you to death.. Just to add on something i felt after writing this blog.. No matter how long or painful the jouney maybe with the encouragement from your family and friends you can always go the extra mile... and the accomplishment will be twice as sweet cause you are sharing it with them...

LilMrST's Journey into Buddhism [2]

Entry by 1128 – LilMrST

As much as I was given the opportunity to learn Dharma, I did not appreciate it as I felt that it was dragging. The lesson became a chore to me as much as other lessons. I started not paying attention to the teachings and treated it like any other lessons that we had to study and pass the subject. The teachers were boring and didn’t attract me at all. Moreover, most of my close friends were either Catholic or Christian and they always pulled me to go to church and try to convert me. Worst, my secondary school principal, who was close to my dad and therefore placed special interest in me, was a devoted committee of a Christian church (in my secondary school, the rate of Christian students and teachers was more than any other religions) and I couldn’t seem to escape from her.

So, although I was in Buddhism class, I also went to church sometimes and even joined the Christmas events in church. It was fun, I made lotsa friends there, especially in the youth group. I started to neglect Buddhism and had no interest in the teaching at all. But, at the same time, I also didn’t go deeper into Christianity. It was merely for the sake of the ‘fun-ness’ that I went to church and participated in all those events.

My mum was pretty upset with me going to church. She was a devoted Buddhist and hoped that I could be one, too. Plus, her reason was because I was already given to ‘Kwan Im’ so by me going to church, it was a case of betrayal. I stopped going to church but was quite reluctant being a Buddhist, either.

Then, I came to Singapore to further my study after my secondary school in Jakarta. Here, I didn’t have anymore religious study and friends continued to pull me over. In Singapore, there was a huge group of Indonesians, esp. the young ones, who were members of an Indonesian church in Hilton Hotel. By joining them, you would be seen as a hip, trendy young Indonesian. Pulled and tempted to go but did not. I was once invited to an Indonesian cell group by my dad’s friend’s son, who was determined to become a pastor, but was freaked out by them speaking in ‘Holy Tongue’ and never joined them anymore

So, with no religion, alone with no family in other country, new environment, new people, my life was pretty hard. For the first 2 years in Singapore, it was still alright, except for the fact that I struggled with my studies and the people around me. I came across a lot of new friends and different groups introduced me to different type of lives. These were the times that I started going clubbing, boozing, getting to know more guys, and all other bad things. But, I stayed away from drugs though as I didn’t wanna spoil my brain cells!!! At these times, too, my mum never gave up to encourage me to go to temple and be a good Buddhist. I just ignored her.

Then came 1997, there was a big monetary crisis in Asia. The dollars went up against Rupiah and thus, the cost of letting me staying in Singapore was increased by 5 times for my parents. Worst, both of my mum’s shops was being burnt to ashes along with other shops and made huge losses. The bad news reached the climax when in 1998, the riot against the Chinese in Indonesia erupted.

All these happenings resulted in my parents to be busy trying to resolve the issues. They had to run away from one country to another until they finally settled down temporarily in Malaysia. A year later, they migrated to Australia. My dad also had a heart attack and went through 2 operations. All these times, I had little contact with them and didn’t see them at all for two years plus.

Crappy Entries

Entry by Rollback No. 1128 - LilMrST ... lol ...

Oh ya, guys, before I forget, last nite I had a funny dream. I dreamt of little Tenzin Rinpoche. He was in Australia and he came to me. I noticed that he was without his jacket so I asked where his jacket is. Then he said that Auntie Ann volunteered to wash his jacket but she had never returned the jacket to Rinpoche ... lol ... then suddenly I remember that I saw a stall selling kids jacket in the shopping centre here so I took Rinpoche there to get a new jacket .... Hahahhahaa .... the funniest part is about Auntie Ann lor ... In my dream, I was still thinking that Auntie Ann pretended to wash but actually she wanted to keep the jacket for herself .... Oooh I know it's bad karma to think like that but it was in my dream ... lol ... I cant control it ....

Then another thing, yesterday I watched an old show called The Thing. It was a bit of horror movie with the young Kurt Russell in it. And u know wat???? The young Kurt Russell reminded me of someone!!!! Dunno whether you all agree or not ... See for yourself =>

Ok, this is the pic of Kurt Russell in the movie's poster (Ignore the wording, please):

And this is the picture of that person:

Hahahhaaha .... look alike anot???? ;p

LilMrST's Journey into Buddhism [1]

Entry by 1128 – LilMrST

Hi hi …. Wow … this is sooo exciting …. First of all, I m glad and honoured to be able to be part of the Little Loop of Bliss … that’s the gang’s name, eh? lol …. What a brainy idea!!!! Yeah, yeah, it’s a good idea to keep each other updated of what’s going on in our lives and how’s the progress of our Dharma learning and practice so far … (mine sucks, no progress cos at home most of the time) ….. Kudos to the inventorsss ……. both of u r sooo cute ….

Neway, hmmm write 500 words per week huh … no problem I guess … lol … yes, like wat Pearl said, can draaaagggggg ttthhhhheeee wwwwooooorrrrrrdddddssssss ….. lol …..

hahahaha …

So, I m the third writer … maybe this week, as an introduction entry, I will just write about why I am in Buddhism. This will give all of you a good idea of my past relating to Buddhism.

My affinity with Buddhism started when I was primary one. In Indonesia, everyone must choose one of the five approved religion and religion study is a must in every school starting from primary level. My parents were brought up in the old Chinese Taoism tradition so naturally they chose Buddhism for me to learn in school. Before school, I was very much following a Taoist tradition and was even given away to ‘Kwan Im’ as God daughter as I was always sick.

During the period of 6 years in primary school, we learned the story of Siddharta Gautama from the day He was born until the day He reached Parinirvana. In between the story, the basic of Buddhism and some mantras were also taught. At the beginning of the class, we had to recite the sutras, like:

* Namo Tassa Bhagavato Arahato Samma Sam Buddhasa for three times
* - Buddhang Saranang Gacchami,
- Dhammang Saranang Gacchami,
- Sanghang Saranang Gacchami.

I loved the story so much that I didn’t wish it would end at primary six. At the start of each primary year, I would finish reading the book that was supposed to be learned for the whole year. I was just mesmerized by the whole thing and Lord Buddha was totally amazing to me. He was kind, full of compassionate, even to his enemy (Devadatta, Siddharta’s cousin, was the first ‘enemy’ that he had, who in the end become the disciple of Buddha), full of wisdom, etc, etc … To me, He was just perfect without any euphoric feeling.

I chose Buddhism study again in my three - year secondary school. By then, the Dharma teachings were going deeper, less stories and more theories. The mantras that we have to recite were also longer and more complicated. I remembered we had a class-ending song that goes like this:

Mari kita menghormati Sang Buddha, Junjungan kita.
Guru Buddha amatlah berjasa, mengajarkan kita Kebenaran.
Svathi Hotu, Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu

Meaning:
Let us pay respect to Lord Buddha, our guide
Guru Buddha is full of benevolence, teaching us the Truth
Svathi Hotu, Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu

Our Own Little Loop of Bliss* :)

Posted lovingly by - Jams :)

After an intense msn chat with Pearl last night, we reached an understanding that we loved each other deeply, and that we would set up a blog, just like colin and kero did :). Tee hee hee... and Wa ha haaa. Don't be jealous Joanne, Pearl is mine, she said YES to me :)

Anyway we both decided that we would be gracious and generous, to spread our love, just like Jesus did. :) This blog shall be shared among all of us - the smartest people around Geylang, tee hee hee.

I'm sure we will all agree that throughout this 3 years, we shared a bond so strong, almost nothing can break us apart (despite the appearance of highly potential MH who threatens to usurp Joanne from us). Tee hee hee once more. Anyway, really nothing against MH, its just nice to make fun and joke. Ok, bad karma, got it. :(

Anyway... heck for now. *Drumroll!* Smart people honour roll-call:

0110 YingOng
0423 Shiya
0419 BloOi
0506 Loong
0906a Wangster
0906b Slug
0921 Ever*Cutest Me :)
1128 LilMrsT

So these above-mentioned 8 people would be at liberty to post any blog entries at anytime they like ok? Just dont force people to read them. Lol. Woww.. Wangster aka Dua Pek Kong Member will be so pleased with our 8-member blog team.. cos its such an auspicious number! Lol. I'll email all of you the ID and password, so let's start... our own little Loop of Bliss!

Well, although our love never needed any evidence or recognition, I guess a blog would be able to help us record all our times spent together, good bad happy and sad. And of course, it will remind us of the good merit we are accumulating every single moment, simply by practising tolerance and patience of one another. I told you, I tolerated enough from you man. Wahahaa.. okay lar.. just kidding la. As you know, Jamielooi is full of craps. :)

Initially Pearl and myself, we excited ourselves with this idea of blogging together. But we figured others especially busy peeps like Charmsitong, Ah Ong, and Loong-er these kind of people sure buay on us one.. But *om mani padme hum*, how lucky! Tee hee hee. Told Chea our happening idea this morning while brushing my teeth and she responded, "Of course I will also write!" *Wow!* So nice right.. Yay!

We will await anxiously for everyone's endless contributions of gossips and latest news. Tee hee hee.. Nice ma. News portal leh! So convenient. Just like The Straits Times.. new news at your doorstep every morning. :)

Read ya soon! :D

(Ps. to lor sor - everytime you post an entry, pls identify your name lovingly at the top ok. So that we know who posted it. Whoever never write name on top, then must fine to write 2 extra entries!) Serious hor! *evil laughter*
